Growv’s Retail Opening Process
-
The Growv team will collect your application information, your correspondence with the OCM, and construction/site timelines to best understand the roadmap towards opening the store. We will then review this information and store key documents in our secure project management tools. The Client team will receive training and guidance from Growv on how to operate the tool and how to find technical support throughout the process.
-
Following the completion of uploading documents and providing critical licensing information, our team will develop a roadmap of the steps needed to receive your final approval to commence sales. This roadmap will be accompanied by detailed checklists within our project management tool and applicable guidance documents. The Roadmap Call will be an opportunity for Growv’s staff to thoroughly explain next steps, answer Client questions, and set expectations.
-
Growv will manage two-way communications between your team and the OCM, ensuring that you do not miss time-sensitive information and that your opening schedule remains on track. We communicate with the OCM on a daily basis and have a keen understanding of what the OCM is looking for when they are interacting with license holders. Communication management encompasses the following:
Monitoring of all emails from the OCM to the Client.
Providing responses to the OCM when information is requested such as deficiencies and questions from the licensing team.
-
Often, the OCM will not approve a store for final licensure or opening due to a negative community opinion. A licensee’s preparation and presentation during the community meetings are critical in attempting to secure a positive municipal opinion. The Growv team will provide a one hour strategy call to review compliance with the municipality or community board’s ordinances and prepare your team for the presentation. Additional local support such as meeting attendance in support of Client, stakeholder engagement and government relations can be provided for a separate fee.
-
Our team will assist you in responding to questions, requests for more information, and any deficiencies that arise from the inspection. You will then receive instruction and guidance on completing the final steps including registering for a certificate of authority to collect cannabis sales tax, providing the initial inventory report, and posting required signage.
-
An inspection is one of the last steps before being allowed to open your doors for sales. This video call or in-person inspection will involve multiple OCM staff going through all of your previous submissions and reviewing them for accuracy with the store. Our team has gone through dozens of these inspections and will prepare you for the questions they will ask, review your store layout virtually as if we are the ones conducting the inspection, and provide a checklist of actions to perform beforehand to ensure the inspection goes smoothly.
Want us there?
Our team can be present on the inspection virtual call to answer questions from OCM staff and ensure that the documents submitted are accurately represented.
-
The most common reason for delays opening a store are inaccurate or non-compliant submittals to the OCM that result in deficiencies. With the current pace of licensing at the OCM, a single deficiency can cost you several weeks of time. Many of these deficiencies can be avoided by engaging experts who work with the OCM on a daily basis, and who are trained to thoroughly review required materials. Our team will review your documents before submittal and provide direction to ensure as smooth a process as possible.
